Dear Members and Friends of Covenant Presbyterian Church,
It is always a joy to learn of new ministries and the opportunities they bring. I write to you this evening to tell you of two of our staff who have accepted new calls to new ministries in other churches. First, Amye our wonderful Music Director, has accepted a position at Trinity Presbyterian Church in Flower Mound. This new church is only 15 minutes away and is a full time position. Amye had this to say about Covenant, “I have no doubt that CPC will continue to thrive and make an impact on people’s lives. What a wonderful church it is! I have been blessed to call this place my church home for the last nine years.” We truly have enjoyed Amye’s leadership from the chancel and will miss her presence among us. Amye’s last day with Covenant is September 3rd.
Blake Stephens, who is our Interim Director of Youth Ministries, has accepted a new call to First Presbyterian Church in Kilgore as their full time Director of Christian Education. Blake has served us so wonderfully as we were discerning where God was leading us after our own DCE’s departure. Blake will meet with youth sponsors to plan fall activities for the future to make sure we are well taken care of. Blake had this to say about Covenant, “There is so much love and affection here in this place. I cannot thank the congregation enough for all the support and that it has shared with me over the years as not only a member but also an employee.” We give God thanks for Blake’s ministry with us and his new call. Blake’s last day with Covenant is September 6th.
It is with joy that God continues to call us to new ministries. We will also grieve as a church to know their ministries have ended with us. We want to celebrate their new calls with both Amye and Blake with a reception after worship on September 3rd. If you would like to make a gift to Amye and/or Blake please make out your checks to Tom Fowler. In the memo line designate whom the gift should be given to. You can drop off your gifts for Amye and/or Blake to Courtney in the office or to Tom directly.
May we remember the words of Jeremiah for us all : “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.
Grace and Peace,
Rev. Lisa Perkins
Pastor of Covenant Presbyterian Church
