Joshua Hawkins Nannestad, D.M.A., is Assistant Professor of Choral Music Education at Southeastern Oklahoma State University, where he conducts the Symphonic Chorus, teaches choral methods, aural skills, and choral literature, and supervises choral student teachers. Prior to this position, he taught for fourteen years in the public schools of Milford, Massachusetts and also served for two years as the conductor of the Gordon College Choir. His degrees are from Boston University, Gordon College, and Saint Olaf College; his dissertation was a study of Britten’s Noye’s Fludde. He has been published in The Choral Journal, the Boston Musical Intelligencer, and MassSINGS; he has also guest conducted widely, served as an officer of MassACDA and OklaCDA, and presented for conferences of ACDA, NAfME, and CMS. A lifelong church musician, Josh has served in Lutheran, Presbyterian, UCC, and Episcopal congregations. Also a lifelong choir geek, he has performed as a member of the Saint Olaf Choir, Canterbury Choral Society, and the Tanglewood Festival Chorus.
