Adult Ministries

At Covenant, we hope to help adults discern how to live out their faith in the world. We try to create groups that allow us to learn and live out what it means to be a disciple of Jesus Christ. Below are various ways you can engage and grow in your faith and become a part of the community here at Covenant.

Covenant Readers

Covenant Readers is a place for anyone with a love of reading to come together and discuss a book chosen by the group each month. Many life lessons can, of course, be learned through books and discussion can often lead to sharing one’s personal life with the group. The group meets September to November and January to May on the second Monday of every month in the Library at the church at 10 a.m.

This ministry came about because people were finding they loved discussing books and wanted a place to talk beyond a few minutes before or after church. The book recommendations can be fiction, nonfiction, and may cover anything from mystery, frivolous, light-hearted, historical, to religious, etc. Anything that interests a member can be recommended and the group votes each month on what to read the next month. Anyone attending the meetings is encouraged to read the selected books before coming but anyone is welcome to come whether or not they have read the book being discussed that month.

Tuesday Women’s Circle

One a month on the second Tuesday of the month at 9:45 a.m. women of Covenant gather together either at a person’s home or at the Church Parlor to discuss the Presbyterian Women’s Horizons Bible Study. This ministry will start back up in Fall 2019.

A part of our Presbyterian Women’s ministry, the circle meets on the second Tuesday of the month at 9:45 a.m. either in a members’ homes or in the Church’s Parlor from September until May.

Men’s Breakfast

Whether you are a member of Covenant or not, we welcome you to come join us for Men’s Breakfast at Grandy’s on Texoma Parkway every Thursday of every week from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 a.m.

We discuss a varied selection of topics ranging from the history of the area, geography, current events, personal hobbies of interest, interesting books we have read, historical events and many, many more. We have had topics presented recently on The Gunfight at the OK Corral, China, Israel, The Battle of Britain and many others of interest, importance, and fun. The conversation is always spirited and lively.

Joys and Concerns of the church are discussed and opportunities to minister with the combined talents of the group are always being sought and filled. The group generally volunteers for church projects, such as helping cook for the church, transportation, Handy Helper projects, and other projects when the need arises.

Professional Women’s Group

This group meets around once a month for fellowship and community. The activity varies each month but usually, it is held at someone’s house with a meal and a group activity to participate in together. This ministry was formed to allow working women to connect with other women in the church who are balancing work, family, and all that life throws at us.

Stephen Ministry

Stephen Ministry is a ministry to church members who provide one-to-one care to people experiencing grief, divorce, loneliness, job loss, hospitalization, and many other life difficulties. There are two ways to be involved. First, you can become a Stephen Minister. You will receive training on how to listen, minister to people in grief, maintaining boundaries, etc. You will then be matched with someone who is in a stressful time or life difficulty. Second, you can be ministered to. If you are going through a difficult time you can request someone to come alongside you and walk through that season with you.
