Ted V. Foote, Jr., a native Gatesville, Texas, has served as pastor of First Presbyterian Church of Bryan since July 1, 2007. The PC(USA)’s Presbytery of New Covenant approved his ecclesiastical status as “Honorably Retired,” effective August 1, 2023. He previously served as pastor of John Calvin Presbyterian Church – Tulsa, OK (1994-2007), of First Presbyterian Church – Henderson, TX (1983-1994), and as associate pastor of San Pedro Presbyterian Church – San Antonio, TX (1979-1983). A 1979 graduate of Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary, between his second and third years of seminary, he gained summer accreditation (1977) in Clinical Pastoral Education as an intern chaplain at St Joseph Catholic Hospital in Houston, then served a 15 month pastoral internship on staff of First Presbyterian – Pasadena, Texas (1977-78). He is a 1975 graduate of Baylor University (B.A., History). With the Rev. P. Alex Thornburg, he co-authored “Being Presbyterian in the Bible Belt” (2000) and “Being Disciples of Jesus in a Dot.Com World” (2003). He is also the author of “Public Education Is a Sacred Calling: Citizen Stakeholders All – for the Common Good” (2016), researched during a study grant from The Louisville Institute. His spouse is Joanie, and their adult sons are Kendall (Los Angeles, CA) and Payton (College Station, TX). The family miniature poodle is Judge.
